- Foreign Exchange
There is one bank counter at the departure lounge and three
bank counters at the
arrival lounge. All transactions are done on the basis of
the declared amount by the passenger and the currencies
permitted by the government based on the day's foreign exchange
rate. In order to change surplus rupees at the time of your
departure from Nepal, please make sure that you save your
encashment receipts, which you must produce for exchange.
Indian currency not exceeding Rs 10,000 can also be exchanged.

If you did not get a chance to exchange your money up at
the arrival immigration hall, you can do so here. It may
be necessary to pay to the taxi as dollars are not accepted
freely in the markets. There is a telephone booth if you
want to make a local call either to your acquaintances or
for personal hotel reservation.

- PRE-PAID Taxi
Once you step out of the arrival gate the pre-paid taxi
service is on your left if you wish to use this facility
you can do so by paying in advance. The rates are made visible
as they are exhibited on the board for your security.

You can acquire information on host of topics on tourism.
HAN (Hotel Association of Nepal) Counter: You can book any
hotel of your choice from here. Get your hotel voucher and
proceed to the assigned hotel. You can collect pamphlets,
other materials on tourism. You may be offered free copies
of "Nepal Traveler" an informative magazine which
has all sorts of information about Nepal distributed by
smart beautiful ladies just as you step out of the Custom
area.

may wish to rest while someone takes care of their formalities
i.e. custom, immigration and collecting of the luggage.

Duty free shopping facilities are available upon both arrival
and departure at TIA. Only those foreign currencies approved
by Nepal Rostra Bank are accepted. These include the US
Dollar, British Pound, Australian Dollar, Swiss Franc, Singapore
Dollar, Japanese Yen, Swiss Kroner, Danish Kroner, Hong
Kong Dollar, Saudi Riyal, Qatar Riyal, and the Euro. Major
credit cards such as Master Card, Visa Card, American Express
Card are also accepted, as are traveller's cheques like
Thomas Cook and American Express. Indian rupees are not
accepted. There is a quota in place, on the purchase of
cigarettes and alcoholic beverages- one carton of cigarettes
consisting of 200 sticks or 50 sticks of cigars, and 1.5
litres of alcoholic drinks, or 10 cans of beer for incoming
passengers. The provision is more liberal for outgoing passengers.
