Arrival Information

Arrival
The arrival hall has the following facilities at your disposal viz.: NABIL BANK: It is advisable you change you money here. Remember to obtain your receipt of the amount you have changed. If it has a long queue then you can also proceed to the Himalayan Money Exchange adjacent to it.

Customs at Arrival
There are two channels for customs clearance. Passengers not having any dutiable items can proceed to the Green Channel. Passengers having gold or gold ornaments not more than 50 gms, and silver or silver ornaments not more than 500 gms, used linen, one camera, one pair of binoculars, one movie/video camera, one radio, one tape recorder, 15 tape cassettes, 10 disc recorders, 1 5 rolls of photo films, 10 rolls of movie camera films, one tricycle, one perambulator, one wristwatch, necessary medicines and ordinary packed food worth not more than NRs 10,000 and fresh fruit worth not more than NRs 1,000 may use Green Channel. If a passenger is in doubt about dutiable or non dutiable items, he/she can proceed to the Red Channel. Passengers should declare foreign currency if they have more than US$ 2,000 or its equivalent in any convertible currency.

Immigartion Counter
Visas are required for all foreigners wishing to enter into Nepal except for Indian nationalities, who need to fish out their identity at the counter to identify themselves. Special counter is there for VIPs/Diplomats. It is advisable that you fill up the disembarkation card in the aircraft itself before disembarking to avoid wasting time filing it at the arrival counter. TIA Immigration can grant you VISA for 60 days, for further details you can contact the Immigration Office at Old Baneshwor in Kathmandu. Once the visa formalities have been completed you have to go downstairs to collect your luggage at the custom area. If you wish to make a local call you can do so from the telephone booth behind the Immigration counter before descending the steps into the Custom area. You need to get your hand baggage examined through the X-ray machine before your exit to the arrival lounge. There are free-baggage trolleys at your disposal. All electric equipment, TV Video Camera, Laptop etc. should be either duty paid or endorsed on your passport so that it can be carried back to your country after completing your stay. You may either take the Green or Red Channel depending upon what you possess e.g. excessive amount of gold, silver, etc. Once you step out of the custom area you are into the arrival lounge consisting of the following facilities:

CIP room
This is available for Commercially Important Person who on arrival may wish to rest while someone takes care of their formalities i.e. custom, immigration and collecting of the luggage. You can avail this room after paying Rs 200 per person.

NEPAL TOURISM BOARD
You can acquire information on host of topics on tourism. HAN (Hotel Association of Nepal) Counter: You can book any hotel of your choice from here. Get your hotel voucher and proceed to the assigned hotel. You can collect pamphlets, other materials on tourism. You may be offered free copies of "Nepal Traveler" an informative magazine which has all sorts of information about Nepal distributed by smart beautiful ladies just as you step out of the Custom area.

Bank
If you did not get a chance to exchange your money up at the arrival immigration hall, you can do so here. It may be necessary to pay to the taxi as dollars are not accepted freely in the markets. There is a telephone booth if you want to make a local call either to your acquaintances or for personal hotel reservation.

Pre-paid Taxi
Once you step out of the arrival gate the pre-paid taxi service is on your left if you wish to use this facility you can do so by paying in advance. The rates are made visible as they are exhibited on the board for your security.
